It was time to go. I'd done the "sacred ceremony" for my circle of friends, offering the best I had at the time - a new connection to spirit. On the surface, a few friends seemed like they wanted to take the journey with me, but I'd slowly realized their idea of the journey was different than mine. They were more interested in travel to the "outer space" of spiritual concepts. But at this time of my life, I needed to be more spiritually active, to find more will and to explore the rich spiritual connections to nature, to mother earth. I needed to go to the desert where every expression of life stood out against the stark landscape, waiting to be valued, as precious as every drop of rain.
